It seems that the movement for Mosque reform is gathering pace. Tablighi Jamaat have been forced to drop plans to build the Mega Mosque, due to a combination of unconnected opposition, including a virulent, hostile reception from Islamophobes and those who have been taught to fear Islam and Muslims, a genuine community opposition from non-Tabligui Jamaat Muslims and to top it all a heavy-handed, impervious, dysfunctional ‘like it or lump it’ attitude from the Mega Mosque committee towards all who had real concerns about the style and content of the project.

MPACUK always opposed the Mega Mosque committee until it had demonstrated that the Mega Mosque wasn’t just a vanity project for sectarianism. Sadly, the Tablighi Jamaat chapter responsible were too busy preening about how big their mosque was compared to the Minaj-ul-Quran and Salafi mosques.

MPACUK wonders if these completely isolated individuals even know that in Switzerland the minaret has been banned by politically active Islamophobes. Did they emblazon on their front door, ‘No politics in the Mosque’ as an innovation to Islam to subjugate their congregation while they schmoozed with MPs, Ministers and the Mayor?

‘No Politics in the Mosque’ indeed. Their refusals to engage at anything more than a ‘me too’ political level or activate the thousands of young Muslims who pass through their classes and listen to their sermons have made Muslims reap the whirlwind they sowed.

The Mosque committee refused to concede or even acknowledge that Muslims would want, or even demand, accountability and openness. Their ego and vanity resulted in the spectre of a Mosque churning out bigoted apolitical zombies who think Islam is best practised by turning a blind eye to the political oppression that is directed at Muslims.

These young agents-of-dogma focus on the trivia of the trouser length, whether women are allowed on the committee, can a woman lead a Mosque (no, not prayer…a Mosque!), or whether a Hijab should be black, or dark or can it be coloured…with no knowledge that UKIP is now proposing it be banned in the UK. And never mind acting against the rising tide of hatred aimed at Muslims and Islam.

As a result of the Tablighi Jamaat vanity project and incompetence they rallied a million non-Muslims to sign a petition against the Mega Mosque, and by doing nothing (and yes, hiring a PR firm that did nothing is the same as doing nothing), rallied the BNP, UKIP and the Conservatives in the Mayoral elections to vote against Ken Livingstone for his support for Muslims and empathy for Muslim courses. Ken Livingstone was kicked out, the man who put his career on the line to support them; while they sat on their fat vanity projects and gloated at how impressive their dreams were while the nightmare is engulfing Muslims.

The Mega Mosque committee chimps even failed to mobilise their own sectarian followers to get the Muslim vote out and ensure that Ken Livingstone wasn’t abandoned by the people he supported. They didn’t mobilise, they did nothing. And now their dreams of glory are nothing.

This humiliation of the once powerful untouchable Mosque Committee has sent a powerful message, that if any group… ANY GROUP who wants to open a Mosque, they have to prove that they are accountable, representative of their community and not just their sect, transparent, non-sectarian and, most importantly, that they can defend the Muslims.

If these criteria cannot be fulfilled, then mega thanks but no mega thanks.
