Belgians hit back at Fascist Farage!

UKIP MEP Nigel Farage thought he needed to drum up some publicity to win John Bercow’s seat and prop up his sagging campaign. So he made a speech. In response the Belgians offered a stern response: His comments provoked a letter of complaint from Belgium’s Prime Minister, Yves Leterme, to the president of the European Parliament, Jerzy Buzek. “As a Belgian politician, I must react against this damaging intervention… and the impolite comments about Belgium,” Mr Leterme protested. He called on Mr Buzek to end “these kinds of incidents” in a bid to protect “the interests of my citizens, which cannot be … Continue reading Belgians hit back at Fascist Farage!

Islam and Britain – A Future

by Shaykh Dr. Abdalqadir as-Sufi No thinking person has any doubts that since the end of World War II the institution of political democracy has signally failed to function as an instrument of State which serves the welfare of the masses. It is not only as an instrument of government that it has proved inadequate to its task, but that of its nature, instead of raising up the best men in the community, it has elevated the lowest creatures of the species. One of the key factors which inhibit a political democracy from governing with justice and care for the … Continue reading Islam and Britain – A Future

The Gospel Of Christian Atheism

For the more metaphysical among us a good read would be The Gospel of Christian Atheism by Thomas J.J. Altizer. This book gave me an interesting and very different perspective on atheism when I was still a college student. You can see it here if you’re interested. In the sixties, this somewhat unconventional theologian pioneered a new view on the ‘death of God’ concept first proposed by the famous philosopher, Friedrich Nietzsche. Whereas Nietzsche tried to exemplify a figurative “God” of being “killed” as a metaphor for religion gradually losing to naturalism, Altizer takes the concept to a more literal dogma. According … Continue reading The Gospel Of Christian Atheism

Heaven & Earth and the beasts He scattered in both…” – Extra-Terrestrial Life?

Sheikh Muhammad b. Ibrâhîm Dûdah Allah says: “And among His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the beasts that He has scattered throughout them both: and He has power to gather them together when He wills.” [Sûrah al-Shûrâ: 29] Human beings have long wondered: Are we alone in this vast universe? Do any other thinking beings exist on other worlds? We have reason to wonder. Is our planet the only one to bear the fruit of life from among the countless planets of the universe? Is such an eventuality likely? In Allah’s creation, does a … Continue reading Heaven & Earth and the beasts He scattered in both…” – Extra-Terrestrial Life?

We Must Be Unequivocal in Condemning Violence

Sheikh Salman al-Oadah, speaking on the NBC program al-Hayât Kalimah, stressed that no one can deny that violence has become an ever-present problem in the Muslim World. Women Demand Space in the Main Prayer Area at the National Mosque in Washington DC – Alhamdullilah!

22 February 2010 About 20 women insisted on praying in the main hall at the Islamic Center of Washington DC. Mosque officials called D.C. police over the weekend to stop the protest. Police told the women to leave or they would be arrested. Jannah B’int Hannah says “she feels like a second-class citizen” when she is asked to pray in a separate room where she cannot see the imam. She was among the women who protested the policy. The women’s prayer area is a separate, smaller room separated from the main prayer hall by a seven-foot wall. Hannah describes the … Continue reading Women Demand Space in the Main Prayer Area at the National Mosque in Washington DC – Alhamdullilah!

Some Words about True and False Jihad

“Let not your hatred of other men turn you away from justice. Be just…that is closer to piety.” Koran 5:7 “Be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath, for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God…” James 1:19 The word jihad has been much abused by a tiny, but spectacularly successful minority of angry Muslims. Their success has been to pervert a good and holy word into a bad word, one that is associated in the non-Muslim world with Muslims killing people in God’s name. Jihad and violence are now widely viewed in the … Continue reading Some Words about True and False Jihad
