Sweeping the Taliban Aside

Posted by Ed Corcoran You Have the Watches, We Have the Time say the Taliban. The implication is that the Americans will eventually leave and they will inherit the country. This implication is wrong. Their race is not with the Americans who will indeed leave, but with modernization that is there to stay. Modernization will sweep them aside. How to promote that sooner rather than later is now the core challenge in Afghanistan. The Taliban’s central claim to legitimacy is that they are the true defenders of Islam, and they support this with selected references to the Koran and to … Continue reading Sweeping the Taliban Aside

T-50 / Project 701 / PAK FA

The maiden flight of the T-50 / Project 701 / PAK FA, the first Russian fifth-generation fighter jet was completed successfully on Friday morning, 29 January 2010 at Komsomol’sk-na-Amur. This event is signfincant for several reasons. The PAK FA is generally similar in appearance to the American F-22, though there are so many differences in detail that it is clearly an original design rather than a knock-off copy. A direct comparison with the F-22 is probably not meaningful on an unclassified basis, but Russian marketers will probably sell it as roughly equivalent in combat potential. While the F-35 is also … Continue reading T-50 / Project 701 / PAK FA

What Is The Difference? Try to look as poor as you can, the Victorian police chief advises Indian immigrants to Australia. Australian cricketers will not be allowed to participate in IPL, thunders Thackeray… Badri Raina Outlook India // // The Victorian police chief, Simon Overland, has finally found the answer to the attacks that Indians have been subjected to down under. “Try to look as poor as you can,” he advises Indian immigrants to Australia: “don’t display your iPods, valuable watch, valuable jewellery.” The implication here is explicit: if you don’t flaunt, you will not tempt. Thus, the onus that … Continue reading Australian cricketers will not be allowed to participate in IPL, thunders Thackeray…

US arms sale to Taiwan reveals ignorance, disrespect

Though this is not the first outrageous act of the US administration after Barack Obama assumed office just over a year ago, it definitely is one of the most provocative. Besides, it ridicules the so-called “strategic partnership” between China and the US. Is the US move appropriate for a strategic partner? The US recognizes that Taiwan is an integral part of … Continue reading US arms sale to Taiwan reveals ignorance, disrespect

Uncle Singh aka Fascist Wog – the BNP ass kissing wannabe

‘Every Hindu and Sikh should be praising the BNP’ This weekend the British National Party will vote on letting non-Caucasians join. If the rules do change, Rajinder Singh, a Sikh, can’t wait to become a member Jenny Kleeman The Guardian Rajinder Singh. Dressed in a crimson turban, he sits a metre from the enormous screen, translating the odd phrase for my benefit. British Muslims and Jews must Unite against hate

The worrying rise of attacks fuelled by hatred Both anti-Semitic and Islamophobic incidents have risen recently as British society becomes more sharply divided, says Chris Allen. Last year saw the highest number of anti-Semitic incidents in the UK since recording began in 1984. In a report by the Community Security Trust (CST), a total of 924 incidents including extreme violence, threats to human life and abusive behaviour were recorded, an increase of 69 per cent from the previous year. The true picture is much worse, as many victims of anti-Semitic attacks are either unable or unwilling to report such crimes. … Continue reading British Muslims and Jews must Unite against hate

Businessman bankrolls ‘street terrorists’ in UK

By Nick Lowles A middle-age, respectable looking man has emerged as a key figure behind the English Defence League. Alan Lake, a 45-year-old businessman from Highgate, North London, sees the EDL as a potential “street army” willing to be deployed against what they claim is rising Islamisation of modern Britain. Lake, who claims to have made money through computers, runs a series of intranet services for far-right groups across the world. Addressing an anti-Islam conference in Sweden last month, organised by the far-right Swedish Democrats, he told delegates it was necessary to build an anti-Jihad movement. He spoke of the … Continue reading Businessman bankrolls ‘street terrorists’ in UK

BNP not in control of its own fate?

New leak confirms BNP not in control of its own fate A leaked spreadsheet listing transactions on the British National Party’s bank account has proved what Searchlight has said all along: that a militant anti-abortion campaigner in Northern Ireland virtually owns the BNP. Searchlight has analysed the spreadsheet, which was posted on the internet anonymously last month, and considers it almost certainly genuine. It covers a period from April 2007 to 26 November 2009 and shows payments to a large number of BNP officers, employees and suppliers. The first year’s transactions match those on an earlier leaked document. During the … Continue reading BNP not in control of its own fate?

Animals and Compassion – The Way of The Leopard

She is the ultimate predator – a sleek and stealthy killer. Pouncing on her prey, she silences the baboon with one swipe of a vicious paw. Then, suddenly, something stirs in the dead animal’s fur, and the law of the jungle is rewritten. • GALLERY: Jungle queen becomes mother From the bedraggled pelt of her kill crawls a tiny infant – a one-day-old baboon. In that moment, this young leopard forgets she is a hunter, and nurtures the baby baboon as if it were her own cub. Smelling blood, a pack of hyenas gather to finish off the kill. Legadema, as … Continue reading Animals and Compassion – The Way of The Leopard
