British Police: dumb, dangerous and dark!

When armed officers tackle a group of young men in fancy dress, there is something amiss in Britain’s police After the arrest and detention last year by armed police of the rock band the Thirst, whose members were spotted by a CCTV operator trying to start a vehicle with jump leads, which he thought was a gun, I began to wonder if there should be some sort of national award for dumb and dangerous cops. Four or five stories of unbelievable stupidity come my way every month. And when a technologically defenceless people — who are nevertheless a resolute, united, tough people, who have a persistent tradition of fighting off intruders — possess what others with deadly war technology want, the conflict is likely to be uncompromising If only the Americans would listen to at least one of their wise experts on the causes and nature of insurgencies, they might feel less inclined to commit war crimes in the furtherance of their desire to control the territory and resources of regions … Continue reading The path to redemption

The three principles – Charles Darwin

No doubt as long as man and all other animals are viewed as independent creations, an effectual stop is put to our natural desire to investigate as far as possible the causes of expression. By this doctrine, anything and everything can be equally well explained; and it has proved as pernicious with respect to expression as to every other branch of natural history. With mankind some expressions, such as the bristling of the hair under the influence of extreme terror, or the uncovering of the teeth under that of furious rage, can hardly be understood, except on the belief that … Continue reading The three principles – Charles Darwin
