Bible Brigade Fanatics on their own Crusade radicalising Muslims

Michelle Cottle The Reverend Franklin Graham has long been something of a thrill seeker. In his quarter-century as head of the Christian relief agency Samaritan’s Purse, the eldest son of the legendary Billy Graham (and heir to his evangelical empire) has earned international respect for supplying food, water, shelter, and medical care to regions where other angels fear to tread. Somalia, Rwanda, Bosnia, Kosovo, Afghanistan, southern Sudanthe more stricken and war torn the area, the greater the opportunity to help, reasons Graham, who delights in personally piloting the group’s small planes through airspace prone to artillery attacks and sniper fire. … Continue reading Bible Brigade Fanatics on their own Crusade radicalising Muslims

Mullah Franklin Grahams – Samaritan’s Purse! Time to expel them from Muslim countries?

Samaritan’s Purse is ostensibly a charity performing good deeds for disadvantaged children. What is not always so obvious is that this is an unsavoury Evangelical Christian organisation that seems more intent on spreading its own brand of Christianity than on genuinely helping others. The Vicar of Putney describes their evangelical views as “a particularly toxic version of Christianity” while the Rev Vernon Marshall describes it as “an intolerant and racist form of Christianity”. Samaritan’s Purse persuade children in local schools to donate shoe boxes containing articles for disadvantaged children. The children are specifically told not to include literature of a … Continue reading Mullah Franklin Grahams – Samaritan’s Purse! Time to expel them from Muslim countries?

The Airplane Plotter & the Thin Line between Dissent and Terrorism

One of the many data points analysts are looking at is the fact that Christmas-day bomb plotter Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab is reportedly the fourth president of a London area Islamic student society to face trial on terrorism related charges in the last three years. Others with distinguished UK university links have been involved in some well publicized events and plots over the last decade. While London’s bookstores, mosques and universities have been critical refuges where dissenting youthful perspectives can be examined, they have also been places where suicide bombings and violent conflicts with the West have been glorified, excused and … Continue reading The Airplane Plotter & the Thin Line between Dissent and Terrorism

FBI E-mail Warning of Terror plot, Mistaken for Nigerian Banking Scam

Washington, D.C. – History has repeated itself as the failed terror attack in Detroit has shown eerie similarities to the security failures leading up to 9/11. Like the Phoenix e-mail memo warning of the 9/11 terrorists flight training was ignored, so to was an e-mail about the Nigerian suspect in the terror plot. However this time the failure was the FBI’s spam filter, not human failure. Umar Mutallab, former Chairman of Nigeria’s First Bank PLC and father of the suspect, had warned authorities of his son’s religious behavior. The information was being passes along by e-mail and got caught up … Continue reading FBI E-mail Warning of Terror plot, Mistaken for Nigerian Banking Scam

Radical Embitterment: The Unconscious Psychology of Terrorists

Radical Embitterment: The Unconscious Psychology of Terrorists (Part Two) Do terrorists tend to suffer from unconscious psychological conflicts? Published on December 29, 2009 Forensic psychologists and psychiatrists routinely interview and evaluate criminal defendants. Some are charged with minor non-violent crimes, and others with major violent crimes such as assault, armed robbery, rape, murder or attempted murder. On Christmas Day, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab tried to murder almost three-hundred people. He was the alleged would-be suicide bomber on Northwest Airlines flight 253. Muslim Youth Radicalization or Politically Correct Islamophobia?

A few weeks ago, five young Muslim men were arrested in Pakistan for allegedly seeking to join militant groups. The boys’ sudden disappearance coupled by a “farewell” video reignited the media’s obsession with homegrown terrorism and radicalization. Yet this time, the media was joined by an unlikely ally; some Muslim American organizations and their leadership. Rather than critically question the media’s premise of radicalization, Muslim organizations and their leaders jumped on the bandwagon and now seek to put an end to “Muslim youth radicalization,” whatever that means. But seriously, what does that mean? House Resolution 1955 defined violent radicalization as … Continue reading Muslim Youth Radicalization or Politically Correct Islamophobia?

Suspect Puts U.K. Schools in Focus

By DANA CIMILLUCA and ALISTAIR MACDONALD Accused airline bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab’s affiliation with University College London is reviving concerns in Britain that its universities and colleges—even the elite—can breed Islamic radicalism. In several of the terrorist plots linked to London since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the U.S., the suspects have been university students or graduates. In many cases, the schools involved are among Britain’s most prestigious, including UCL, King’s College London and the London School of Economics, all of which receive taxpayer funding. Despite questions raised by government officials in the U.K. about whether Mr. Abdulmutallab, the … Continue reading Suspect Puts U.K. Schools in Focus
