The General Secretary of the Arab Islamic Council, Mohamed Ali Al-Husseini, participates in the 34th International Conference of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in Egypt held in Cairo on September 9 and 10, 2023.

Mohamed Ali Al-Husseini, the General Secretary of the Arab Islamic Council, delivered an address at the 34th International Conference of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in Egypt, held under the theme “Cyberspace and Modern Means of Religious Discourse: Navigating the Righteous Path.”

During this event, held on September 9 and 10, 2023, Al-Husseini highlighted the dual nature of the electronic space—a potential security hazard and a remarkable opportunity to safeguard our communities.

In his presentation titled “Cyberspace: Challenges and Opportunities,” Al-Husseini shed light on the multitude of challenges posed by cyberspace. These challenges encompass personal privacy breaches, the propagation of divisive hatred, and the dissemination of extremist ideologies by misguided factions such as The Muslim Brotherhood.

Furthermore, he underscored the grave concern that cyberspace can be exploited as a tool to recruit impressionable young individuals with seductive yet deceptive ideologies, inciting them to commit acts of terrorism against civilians, thereby jeopardizing global security and stability.

Nevertheless, Al-Husseini’s message resounds with hope and empowerment. He firmly believes that these challenges can be harnessed and transformed into positive opportunities, fortifying society against security threats. Social media platforms have the potential to bridge divides, foster dialogue, and amplify messages of tolerance and unity. Through these channels, we can propagate the values of human brotherhood, counteracting hatred and violence.

Mohamed Ali Al-Husseini proposed that religious and media institutions take an active role in promoting universal human values across cyberspace, transcending religious and cultural boundaries.

This proactive engagement aims to strengthen the bonds of Islamic unity, promote interfaith dialogue, enhance mutual understanding, and facilitate peaceful coexistence. Al-Husseini’s message is one of encouragement and purpose, inspiring us to harness the vast potential of cyberspace for the greater good of all humanity we hope more people not just Muslims will move ahead with confidence and focus.
